Classroom Expectations

Classroom Expectations/School Expectations

In Room 9 we will follow our school expectations, also known as “Viking Pride.” P-positive~  R-respectful~ I-in control~ D-dependable~ E-engaged   We will be talking about, modeling, and making a lot of picture charts related to the expectations in the classroom. Students will also take part in the Viking Pride Fair during the first week of school to participate in activities related to school expectations.

CLIP CHART

We will use a Behavior Clip Chart in the classroom to monitor behavior. A clip chart is a great tool that allows students to be rewarded for positive behavior, while discouraging negative behavior.   With this behavior system students will start each day with their clothespin on green (Ready to learn). They can move up the chart with great behavior all the way up to super student (Pink) where they will earn a Viking Victory slip that gets entered in the monthly drawing at the Viking Pride Assembly. If students are having a difficult time they will clip down to yellow to think about their choices. If they continue to make poor choices students will move to orange, and then red to lose recess time and/or an office visit and parent contact.

Positive Reinforcement:

During the day, if all of the students are on task or working extra hard, a marble will be placed on the classroom marble jar chart.  When there is a total of 25 marbles the students will receive a special surprise from the treasure basket. Table groups may also earn a weekly reward from the treasure basket by receiving the most tally marks on the board for their group and showing great classroom seat work behavior!
